Alta Gracia - Barrio Portales del Sol

[municipal flag] image by Ivan Sache, 26 January 2020

Portales del Sol is a borough of Alta Gracia (48,140 inhabitants in 2010), a town located 40 km south-west of Córdoba.

The flag of Portales del Sol is garnet red with a yellow sun having 16 green rays outlined in yellow and the black outline of a gate in the center.

The flag was unveiled on 23 December 2019, as the result of an innovative process of participatory vexillology, organized by Centro Cesahycag and Fundación Participar Santa María, with the support of the Centro Vecinal (elected local authority).
The Centro Vecinal invited the borough's citizens to a creativity workshop organized on 27 July 2019. The workshop resulted in 29 proposals.

The winning design was selected on 3 August by a jury presided by Cristian Baquero Lazcano, the designer of the provincial flag. Regular members were Cristina Roca, representing the Centro Vecinal; two citizens, Iván Medina and Susana Cortez (also a member of the Women's Council); and the journalist Juan Carlos Gamero.

The flag is a collective work submitted by the Peláez family (Paola, Marcelo, Sofía and Gastón).
The garnet red field represents the roofs of the houses composing the borough.
The sun ("sol") alludes to the name of the borough. The green rays represent the borough's streets, which are all named for autochthonous trees ("algarrobos", Prosopis spp.; "aromitas", Acacia spp.; "chañares", Geoffroea decorticans; "espinillos", Acacia caven; "jarillas"; Larrea spp.; "lapachos", Tabebuia spp.; "molles", American pepper, Schinus molle; "moradillos", Schinus fasciculatus; "pasionarias", Passion fruit, Passiflora edulis; "quebrachos", Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco; "talas", Desert hackberry, Celtis ehrenbergians).
The gate ("portal") in Jesuit style also alludes to the name of the borough [and, probably so straightforwardly that it was not even mentioned, to the Jesuit origin of the town of Alta Gracia].

Anisacate

[municipal flag] image by Héctor Orlando Alfonzo and Domingo Guido Ponce, 11 November 2021

The municipality of Anisacate (2,991 inhabitants in 2010) is located 50 km south-west of Córdoba and 10 km south of Alta Gracia.

The flag of Anisacate is horizontally divided celestial blue-dark blue-green, with a thin white line between the two blue stripes and a white triangle placed along the hoist, with a rounded-off angle and charged with a yellow sun.

The flag of Anisacate was selected on 10 November 2021 among 66 proposals submitted in a public contest organized by the municipality.

The flag was designed by Héctor Orlando Alfonzo and Domingo Guido Ponce, from El Descanso. Alfonzo explained the design as follows.

"The sun, the symbol of light and warmth par excellence, could not be omitted from the design. Using an ordinary representation of the sun was not relevant, since it represents the native energy at the origin of Anisacate; accordingly, the sun was modeled on a Comechingón pictograph.
The white triangle reflects the place's historical trajectory until now, and also towards future with power and positive direction. The triangle is also a symbolic representation of coherence between feeling, thinking and acting in the search for a third, conciliating position that would anticipate potential conflicts emerging from duality."
The celestial blue stripe represents the sky, the other blue stripe represents rivers, and the green stripe represents flora and fauna. The thin white stripe represents "the North Road heading to our municipality".
