Flota Argentina de Navegacion de Ultramar. Known as FANU it appears to
have originated post WW2, probably under government control, and in
12/1957 absorbed Compañia Argentina de Navegacion Dodero S.A. However
in 1961 it was part of another government inspired merger becoming
part of Empresa Lineas Maritimas Argentinas S.A.

The flag portrayals vary slightly being blue with a white saltire surmounted by a white horizontal oval bearing the red letters "FANU". Stewart 1953 & 1957
show the oval being outlined blue [see image], Brown 1958, which incorrectly shows it under the Dodero title, shows a red
outline [see image] whilst US Navy 1961 does not have an outline [see image].
Another version line with that of the US Navy rendering is shown in
Harnack's All About Ships & Shipping 1959 10th edition where the
letters are shown in blue with dots after them. From Harnack's
correspondence records the fact that they should be red was
subsequently pointed out by John Styring to the publishers and a
correction would have been made in the next edition only by then it
was out of date. I suspect that the colours were taken from a company
letterhead as a subsequent query to the London Agents produced a reply
on FANU paper where the heading, all in blue and white, shows such a
flag and presumably nobody saw fit to advise, or possibly never
realised, that the letters were red.

A sailing list 1960-1961 shown by the Maritime Timetable Images website has the initials within an oval outline (clickable):

Only in b/w, alas, but the outline may be considered official I suppose.
However the Maritiem Digitaal website, shows the version without the outline. Just type “fanu” in the search box and click “Zoeken”.
