The city statute does not define that the flag contains the city arms; thus [dew06]
shows a drawing of a plain triband, and the plain flag is indeed frequently used. However, as with other Carinthian
municipalities, the flag with the arms (in different versions) is also used.
In addition to the tribands (plain or with arms), I have found photos of a banner-of-arms (not including the base Vert,
though)
[18]
[19]
[20]. This was used during the wedding of the city mayor.
I am not sure, if these were one-off flags or if they are used by some folkloristic association or the like.

Note the apparent similarity between this coat-of-arms and that of Ljubljana,
which is purely coincidental. However, the beast in Ljubljana is a
dragon (four legged creature) while that of Klagenfurt is a wyvern
(with only two legs) - although this difference is sometimes difficult
to spot. Also Klagenfurt's beast surmounts the tower and that of
Ljubljana stands on top of it. There are other artistic differences,
but these are heraldically irrelevant.

Also both cities feature a famous statue of their armorial beasts: the
Klagenfurt Wurm can be seen here:

though with four legs. (This may be based on a historical version of the arms,
see
