Description of burgee and ensign

The burgee of the Adelaide Sailing Club (ASC) is divided by a blue cross bordered in white. First and fourth quarters are red, whereas second and third quarters are yellow.

Adelaide Sailing Club is located at West Beach on St. Vincent Gulf, 5 km due west of Adelaide (South Australia).

The Constitution of the yacht club does not mention the burgee but says:

Article 25. Club ensign. The Club ensign shall be the Blue Ensign of Her Majesty's Fleet with the distinctive marks of the Club on the fly thereof, viz., a Patriarchal Cross.

Article 26. Club flags. Club flags shall be those described in the sailing program of the Club.

I enquired about this because the description of the ensign matches that of the Holdfast Bay Yacht Club, whose warrant for a special ensign was cancelled in 1928. The Adelaide Sailing Club is the result of an amalgamation of the Glenelg Sailing Club and Holdfast Bay Yacht Club

The Blue Ensign (Patriarchal Cross) as defined in the Club's Constitution is that of the old Holdfast Bay Yacht Club and used only as a Club House flag.

The amalgamation of Glenelg Sailing Club and Holdfast Bay Yacht Club mentioned by David Prothero, took place in 1998.
