Presentation of Libramont-Chevigny
The municipality of Libramont-Chevigny (9,981 inhabitants on 1 January
2007; 17,786 ha, therefore the five biggest municipality in Belgium and
the second biggest in Wallonia) is located 15 km north-west of
Neufchâteau. The municipality of Libramont-Chevigny is made since 1976 of the former municipalities of Libramont, Sainte-Marie-Chevigny, Bras, Freux, Moircy, Recogne, Remagne, and Saint-Pierre.
Libramont is mostly famous for its agricultural fair (Foire de
Libramont), created in 1926 by the Société Royale du Cheval de Trait
Ardennais (still manager of the event) to promote the draft horse of
the Ardenne. In 1927, 10,000 visitors saw 160 horses exhibited by three
breeders; in 2002, 150,000 visitors were welcomed by 550 exhibitors.
From 27 to 30 July 2007, the 73rd Libramont Fair beat all records, with
177,394 visitors (vs. 168,752 in 2006), which makes of it the biggest
outdoors agricultural show in Europe and the biggest popular event in
Wallonia (the fair is so crowdy that parents are invited by the organizers to
write their name and phone number on a name tag supplied for free to
young children!)

Municipal flag of Libramont-Chevigny
According to Armoiries communales en Belgique. Communes wallonnes, bruxelloises et germanophones, there is no municipal flag used in Libramont-Chevigny.
