The symbolism of the Union-Jack-style flag, blue with yellow-bordered red
cross and saltire, is that of the power of the municipal government (the
yellow rectangle on the center) radiating to the regions. The coat of arms
shows a gold eagle on blue (for power and prosperity), a cattleman’s horn
for the ranching industry, and three wavy stripes in base for the Prosa and
Segredo creeks. The white bordure is scattered with eight red crosses paty.
The dates on the scroll are 1872 (the founding date) and 1899 (achievement
of municipal status). The motto is “Poder, prosperidade, altruísmo (Power,
prosperity, altruism).”
