About the Flag of Alto Paraná

A blue flag with a central emblem in white consisting of an outer narrow ring, a central wider ring that is edged as a saw toward the hoist and a cog wheel toward the fly and placed on top of an outline of a coffee bean, with two five-pointed stars above.

The flag is described on http://www.homenett.com.br/~pmaltopr/pagina_bandeira.php as (loosely translated):

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the City of Alto Paraná, Mayor Sr. Augustin Alcides Stefanello and the Municipal Speaker of the house Sr. Walcyr Guandalini Gomes and many councilmen, Srs. Peter García, Augustus Kobus, Rubens Nogueira de Almeida, Heitor Dos Santos, Valdir Molin, Guildo Jacob Kloeckner, Ney Camargo Machado and Antonio García Pombo, congregated and decided to assign a commission to direct the celebrations, for the presidency of Sr. Walcyr Guadalini Gomes - President of the Legislature.
When assuming office in 1970 Sr. Walcyr G. Gomes, began the adoption of a new symbol and also the colors sky blue and white as the colors of the City. In 1972 for the commemoration of 150 years of independence of Brazil Mayor Sr. Walcyr G. Gomes noted the lack of a flag that represented the city officially, and decided to institute a flag, using the elements of that he had already used. He assigned Jayme Freiberg, son of Sr. Jose Freiberg, founder of Alto Paraná and 1º President of the Legislature of Alto Paraná, to encapsulate the ideas of Mayor Sr. Walcyr G. Gomes, which was done. Also Sra. Nair Pessete de Andrade daughter of the pioneer Silvestre Pessete to have the honor to make the flag of the City, which she was did with great affection and on the 7 of September to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of Independence of our native land, Mayor Sr. Walcyr G. Gomes invited students Adir Teixeira de Oliveira and Leonor Torres, two youth born and registered in the notary's office of this city to have the honor to display for the first time the banner of the City, which was done with applause and popular euphoria.
Minutes before the raising of the flag City mayor Walcyr G. Gomes proceeded from the pavilion and described the minimum details of its meaning and said: “When I chose sky blue as the main color of the flag, I had in mind that since the start of our civilization man searched for God in his imagination and when doing so he looked into the blue of the heavens, therefore the sky blue color to represent in our flag sovereign and all powerful God. The white color will represent peace, pureness and the good intentions of our people when contributing and constructing this city. The central circle on the flag will represent the people, the community joined in the eagerness of the progress, closer to the center a coffee bean represents its great agricultural production. Penetrating the upper part of circle two stars representing the districts of Maristela and Santa Maria; in the lower part of the circle the words ALTO PARANÁ subtitle the name of the region of the great River Paraná that joins three peoples of South America, a region where advanced Jesuit civilization blossomed and whose future is predestined to be one of most prosperous of the country. On top of the grain of coffee bean is a circle representing in half a lumberjack's saws, symbolizing the lumber industry that per for many years fed the rising town. The other half of the circle is a cog wheel representing progress. Closer to the new center is another circle with the hippie symbol for for peace and love, and representing the three-day period of the Judicial district. Finally to the center the left half is a waxing moon symbolizing increasing development”.

Soon after the raising of the flag mayor Walcyr G. Gomes received congratulations from the authorities, gifts, but one stood out for posterity, when young Srta. Marilene Stainzak - Miss Alto Paraná said: “It was magic, I adored, I found our flag to be as pretty as our city. Congratulations Mr. Mayor”.
Thus we describe one of the most beautiful events of our history, the birth of the Flag of Alto Paraná, a gift from Mayor WALCYR GUANDALINI GOMES to the future generations.
