About the Flag of Jacarezinho

The municipality of Jacarezinho (39,435 inhabitants in 2018; 60,253 ha) is located 40 km north of Curitiba.

The flag and arms of Jacarezinho are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 505 promulgated on 6 June 1969.

Appendix
Arcinóe Antonio Peixoto de Faria, heraldist

Coat of arms of Jacarezinho
Rationale.
Law No. 167 promulgated on 18 December 1953 [see below] contains heraldic mistakes, lacks a description and a proper iconographic representation of the symbols, and does not specify the colors of the arms.
Heraldist Arcinóe Antonio Peixoto de Faria was commissioned by the Municipal Chamber to correct and illustrate the arms, and also to propose a municipal flag.

Description.
A classical Flemish-Iberian shield surmounted by an eight-towered mural crown argent. Argent a stylized caiman sable rampant and passant over the first of three fesses wavy azure in base. The shield supported dexter by a branch of coffee fructed proper and sinister by a sugarcane proper crossed in base and superimposed by a scroll gules inscribed in letters argent with the Latin motto "IBIT IN SECULA".

Symbols.
The classical Flemish-Iberian shield, also called, improperly, Portuguese, is used to represent the arms of Jacarezinho, obeying a tradition widespread in the country, evoking the colonizing race and main builder of the Brazilian nationhood.
The mural crown surmounting the shield is the universal symbol of domains' coats of arms; argent with eight towers, only five of them visible in perspective view, it classifies a 2nd rank town, that is, the seat of a county.
Argent (silver) is the heraldic symbol of peace, work, prosperity and friendship, which are the attributes of the atmosphere of municipal life.
In the center, the stylized caiman ["jacaré"] sable (black), rampant (with forepaws risen) and passant (walking) makes the arms canting, evoking the toponym "Jacarezinho". Sable (black) is the heraldic symbol of austerity, prudence, knowledge and moderation, which are the attributes of the municipal powers that exert an office granted by people.
The three fesses wavy azure (blue) symbolize the three most important rivers in the municipality, Jacaré, Paranapanema, and Prata. Blue (azure) is a symbol of justice, nobleness, perseverance, zeal and loyalty, which are the attributes of Jacarezinho's people in their effort of increase of the town, applied in loyal compliance with laws promulgated by the government.
The outer ornaments, coffee and sugarcane, represent the crops produced by the generous and fertile soil, base of the municipal income.
The scroll gules (red), a color symbolizing love, audacity, intrepidity, courage, and valiance, is inscribed in letters argent with "IBIT IN SECULA", which means "Pass to Posterity"/

Flag of Jacarezinho
Description.
Divided in six quarters, blue, the quarters constituted by six white stripes superimposed by black stripes, in bend and bend sinister, starting from a central white circle inscribing the coat of arms of the municipality.

Rationale and symbols.
In compliance with the tradition of Portuguese heraldry, whose rules and canons were inherited, municipal flags shall be divided into eight, six, four or three parts, using the colors of the field of the coat of arms and containing in the center a geometric figure inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
The municipal flag of Jacarezinho obeys this general rule, being divided into six parts.
The coat of arms in the center of the flag represents the municipal government, while the geometric figure inscribing it represents the town proper, as the seat of the municipality. The circle is the heraldic symbol of infinity, having no beginning and no end. White is a symbol of peace, work, prosperity and friendship,
The stripes starting from the circle and dividing the flag represent the spread of municipal power to all the parts of the territory. The quarters represent the rural estates existing in the municipality. Black is the hieroglyph of moderation, knowledge, austerity and prudence. Blue means justice, nobleness, zeal and loyalty.
