Campo de Tenente was mentioned

1829. The settlement of Campo do Tenente was established in 1847.
The railway
station was inaugurated on 1894, while Major Henrique Stahlke, owner of an
electric power plant, offered in 1907 electricity for free to the town.
The
municipality of Campo do Tenente was established by State Law No. 4,338,
promulgated on 25 January 1961, separating from Rio Negro, and inaugurated on 29
October 1961.
