The municipality of Candói (15,93 inhabitants in 2019; 151,277 ha) is located
300 km west of Curitiba.
The flag of Candói is prescribed by Municipal
Law No. 40 promulgated on 23 August 1993.
Article 6.
The municipal
flag of Candói, imagined by Liseli Jakuski, student at Colégio de Paz located in
Alagado de Iguaçú, Pr. Alair R. Moreski, Colégio Santa Clara, and Pr. Dr. Carmem
Lucia B. Turra, from Escola de Cachoeira, was adapted to municipal heraldry by
heraldist and vexillologist Reynaldo Valascki
a) The municipal flag of
Candói shall be composed of two distinct stripes.
I. In the upper part, white
(argent), a sun centered in the upper part with rays reaching the border of the
field, the word "CANDÓI" interspersed with the rays. In the lower part, two blue
isosceles triangles, the right one charged with five stars. A green (vert)
pyramid representing fields, rainforests and agriculture.
In compliance with
the Portuguese heraldic tradition, of which canons and rules were inherited in
Brazil, the vexillology of municipal flags shall be divided into eight, four or
three parts, using the same colors as the field of the municipal coat of arms.
The municipal flag obeys this general rule, being formed of two stripes that
split the rectangle.
a) The white color of the upper stripe of the municipal
flag symbolizes peace, friendship, work, prosperity, purity and religious
spirit.
b) The yellow (or) sun represents life, wealth and beauty,
symbolizing greatness, wealth, glory, splendor and sovereignty.
c) ìn the
rectangle's lower part two blue (azure) isosceles triangles, the right one with
five stars symbolizing the blue and calm sky covering
Candói's municipal
territory, representing the rural areas existing in the municipality and evoking
the cloak of our Lady covering of her blessing Candói's working and obedient
people.
d) The stars heraldically symbolize the Southern Cross and
administratively represent the regional nuclei most developed in the
municipality: Candói municipal seat, Lagoa Seca, Paz, Cachoeira and Segredo.
e) The left triangle symbolize water of rivers Iguaçú, Cavernoso and Jordão, as
well as many other streams and Iguaçú floodplain, all irrigating the
municipality's rich and fertile soils.
f) The green (vert) pyramid represents
the plains, forests and agricultural lands symbolizing hope and faith into
marvelous achievements and progress of the municipality.
Article 7.
In
compliance with heraldic rules, the municipal flag shall have the official
dimensions prescribed for the national flag, 14 units in width on 20 units in
length.
