The municipality of São Jorge D'Oeste (9,074 inhabitants in 2018; 37,905 ha) is
located 450 km west of Curitiba.
The flag and arms of São Jorge D'Oeste
are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 50 promulgated on 28 July 1972.
Article 1.
§I. The coat of arms shall be made of a geometric figure bordered
on top by an horizontal line and ending in an angle in the lower part, with the
following characteristics.
I. The inner part is composed as follows.
A)
Symbolizing faith, a cross in the center.
B) Symbolizing education and
culture, in base right of the cross, a terrestrial globe over a book, left an
inkpot and a quill.
C) Symbolizing industry, in chief right of the cross,
chimneys on industrial buildings.
D) Symbolizing energy potential, in chief
left of the cross, a tower with respective wires.
E) Symbolizing agricultural
potential, in base left of the cross, a furrowed plot.
F) Yellow, starting
from the cross and reaching the other symbols, is the symbol of Christian light
that guides São Jorge's people in their faith.
G) The blue background
symbolizes São Jorge D'Oeste's firmament.
II. The external parts are the
following.
A) Symbolizing the municipality's resources and emancipation, on
top, a yellow crown with five towers and, below, the motto "Fé, Trablaho e
Progresso" (Faith, Work and Progress).
B) Beneath, a red stripe inscribed
with the municipality's name; standing on the scroll, right a maize plant and
left a wheat plant, representing indispensable products.
C) Finally, the date
of inauguration of the municipality, in black.
§II. The flag shall be
white, charged in the center with the coat of arms.
