Municipality

The municipality of Araricá (5,349 inhabtiants in 2016; 3,529 ha) is located 70 km north-east of Porto Alegre.

Araricá was first settled by German colonists led by Johann Peter Schmitt, who acquired in 1842 the Padre Eterno domain. After Schmitt's death in 1868, the area was urbanized by Francisco Pedro de Abreu, Baron of Jacuhy.
The municipality of Araricá was established by Law No. 10,667 promulgated on 28 December 1995.

Symbols

The flag and arms of Araricá are prescribed by Law No. 32 promulgated on 28 May 1997.

Article 1.
The municipal flag and arms of Araricá, compliant with the international principles of heraldry, shall obey the following norms:

The coat of arms is of Germanic shape, argent, charged with a drop azure, a sun or, mounts vert, a palm tree vert and argent, a chimney carmine, an industrial building sable, the motto "A gota de orvalho de vale" (A dew drop in the valley).
The supporters are flags azure, or, argent and vert attached to lances argent outlined sable.
A scroll gules with the toponym "28 - 12 ARARICÁ 1995" sable.
The shield surmounted by a mural crown argent with a gate gules and four towers representing the four powers : Executive, Legislative, Judiciary and Social.

The flag of the municipality of Araricá shall be 14 units in width on 20 units in length. Horizontally divided, with the blue, white, yellow and green colors, the blue stripe 3 units on 20 units, the white stripe 5 units on 20 units, the yellow stripe 1.5 units on 20 units, and the green stripe 3 units on 20 units.
