The flag and arms of Iporã do Oeste are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 77 promulgated on 23 March 1990.

Article 1.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Iporã do Oeste, compliant with the basic principles of international heraldry, is detailed in the descriptive memoir found in Appendix I, which is integral part of this Law.

Article 2.
The flag of the municipality of Iporã do Oeste has for colors celestial blue, white and light green, charged in the center with the coat of arms, as detailed in the descriptive memoir found in Appendix II, which is integral part of this Law.

Appendix I.
Municipal coat of arms

I.1 - Descriptive memoir
The municipal coat of arms of Iporã do Oeste has Portuguese bases, like heraldry used in most coats of arms of Brazilian municipalities.
The design of the coat of arms of Iporã do Oeste is based on historical data of the municipality.

The colors technically follow the usual codification rules of heraldry: or (gold), argent (silver), gules (red), azure (blue), vert (green), sable (black).
The symbolic meaning of the colors is as follows:
a) Argent means peace, friendship, work, prosperity and purity.
b) Vert is a symbol of honor, civility, courtesy, glee and abundance. It is the symbolic color of hope, since greening fields in spring promise profuse harvests.
c) Gules symbolizes patriotic love, dedication, audacity, intrepidity, courage and valiance.
d) Azure represents beauty and subtlety.
e) Or is a symbol of force and wealth.
f) Sable represents prudence.

The coat of arms of Iporã do Oeste features in chief a field azure superimposed by a fleur-de-lis, the universal heraldic symbol of intrepidity, loyalty and honor, in the center the winged helmet or of the Greek god Mercury, as the universal representation of commerce, surmounted by a cogwheel or symbolizing industry; the helmet is interlaced by two leaves of tobacco in carmine shades (brown) and a citrus vert. In the same field, sinister, a poultry bird argent. Dividing the field in chief a fess wavy argent under a sky azure superimposed by a shining sun or. The fess sinister superimposed by a field and mountains in carmine shades (brown), an araucaria sable and a human silhouette argent and sable.

The supporters are on the right a maize spike or with the involucre in shades or and carmine (ochre). On the left, a soybean plant vert with pods or, the two plants interlaced by a sinuous scroll gules inscribed with the toponym sable "01 - 06 IPORA DO OESTE 1989".
The whole surmounted by a mural crown argent, representing the three powers constituting the municipality: Executive, Legislative and Judiciary.

I.2 - Heraldic description
The rounded shape is proper to Portuguese heraldry, from which originate heraldic principles adopted by most countries in the world, Brazil included. In chief dexter, the universal symbol mandatory used in most coats of arms, a fleur-de-lis as a symbol of civism, integrity, loyalty, etc.
In the center, Mercury's helmet and a cogwheel representing industry and commerce. The tobacco leaves and the citrus represent the municipality's two profuse crops, while the poultry bird represents one of the municipality's sources of income.
The fess wavy dividing the chief represents the brooks and rivers present on the municipal territory. The sun represents life, wealth, force; the araucaria is the symbol of the abundant forests of the region.
The colonist sowing a field represents the whole municipality sowing the seeds with the hope of a good harvest, as well as all the activities exerted by Iporã's people. It is also a tribute to the colonists who once initiated prosperity in the area.
The supporters represent two crops of main relevance. The scroll gules represents justice and everyone's courage. The mural crown argent classifies the town as the 3rd-rank town or municipal seat, while the three towers represent the three powers in the municipality.

Appendix II.
Municipal flag

I.1 - Descriptive memoir
The rules of dimensions are universal, that is 14 units in height on 20 units in length.
In horizontal dexter [top] a stripe azure (blue) of 4.55 units in height on 20 units in length.
In the center a white stripe of 4.90 units in height on 20 units in length.
Superimposed in the flag's center, the coat of arms of the municipality in its official colors, 4.55 units in height on 4.40 units in length.
Sinister [bottom] a stripe vert (green) of 4.55 units in height on 20 units in length.

I.2 - Heraldic description
Azure (blue) represents the sky, beauty and subtlety. White represents purity and honor. Vert (green) represents the natural environment and hope.
