The coat of arms of Siderópolis is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 217 promulgated on 24 February 1966.

Article 2.
The coat of arms of the town and municipality of Siderópolis has the following description
Heraldic description: A rounded-off shield.
Divisions:
1. Argent a red Latin cross
2. Or a black bucket shovel and truck
3. Green a farmer using a hoe
4. Blue a yellow torch inflamed proper hold by a hand proper
Mural crown: Masoned or with four towers, proper to municipalities, haloed in blue.
Motto: "Tendens Ad Sidera", in red on a blue scroll.

Supporting memoir.
The rounded-off shield, used by so many Brazilian municipalities and also called "Portuguese", recalls the most legitimate sources of our nation. The blue halo evokes the blue cloak of Our Lady of the Apparition, the town's patron saint.
The red cross is a symbol of Christian faith, served by Siderópolis' earlier and present-day's inhabitants and of the presence of the Orionina congregation in the municipality.
The red cross on a white field symbolizes eager charity and pure faith, as the Orionina symbol.
The shovel and truck represent, through "Marion", Siderópolis' pride, the labor of the coal miners of the Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional and of Carbonífera Treviso SA and of all coal miners working in the municipality. Coal extraction was a continuous incentive moving the municipality's development.
The farmer using a hoe evokes and honors the municipality's pioneer colony. Agriculture was the first activity of the Italian immigrants who claimed the land forming today the municipality of Siderópolis. Thousands of inhabitants of the town still dedicate themselves to noble and healthy agriculture.
The torch is the heraldic symbol of knowledge and highest ideals, recalling the municipality's schools and teachers and the value of study for the inhabitants, as well as the liberty and democracy ideals.
The four colors of the shield's background are those of the Brazilian flag, green, yellow, blue and white, highlighting national loyalty.
The supporters, wheat and coffee plants, are those of the Santa Catarina flag, highlighting the inseparable link with the state.
The motto, reading "Aspiring to Height", literally "Holding to the Stars", a verse from Virgil's Aeneid, synthesizes people's aspirations.

The complete quote (Aeneid I, 97) is "Et duplices tendens ad sidera palmas" (Holding his two palms to the stars).
