To celebrate its 25th anniversary of being incorporated as a town,
Coalhurst, Alberta, revealed a new logo, which was produced via a contest
and is the basis of its new flag adopted in 2020. The logo includes houses
representing the community, a yellow sun symbolizing a bright future, a mine
shaft under the community for the hard work and principles of settlers of
the area, and a train track to connect the present to the past and to
represent progression, industry, and the path forward.

- The community is built on the mine cart, remembering the principles and effort of those who came before.
- The mine cart is a symbol of our past and can be found in many places around Town. It signifies the sacrifices and hard work of the early settlers of the area.
- Houses represent the members of our present-day community.
- The yellow sun arches over the community, symbolizing a bright future and also gives a nod to our "sunny" southern Alberta region and Town colour.
- The train track is a prominent and an unignorable landmark. It connects the present to the past, representing progression, industry, and moving forward.
- The "t" in the town name has been replaced by a miner's pickaxe, as a subtle reminder of our past.
- Depicted in purple, a traditional Town colour, the slogan depicts openness and belonging while also playing on the word "mine" recognizing the Town's past industry.

According to Marge Williams, Chief Administrative Officer, Town of
Coalhurst, the coal miner illustrated on the town's flag was taken
from a ceramic miner made by a resident in the early 1980s - the
yellow stripes represent looking into the future. The Town of
Coalhurst (population: 1,493) is located west of the City of
Lethbridge in Southern Alberta.
