The coat of arms on this flag make reference to St Luke, after whom the city is named. The silver and sable bottom of the shield, shining in all directions, is a reference to the train industry, important in Côte-Saint-Luc's development. The crest is formed of five corncobs and refers to the fact that this was originally an agricultural community. The two banners proclaim Côte-Saint-Luc's patriotism as both a modern Canadian city and one of the oldest localities in Quebec. I took a photo of this flag in 1999 in a Montreal Urban Community building. Beaudoin reports a version without the city name.
