San Estanislao (officially: San Estanislao de Kostka, a.k.a Arenal (Sand)) is a municipality located in the Bolívar Department. It was founded on 13 November 1650..
The flag of San Estanislao is horizontally divided green-blue and is charged with a dove inside a disc in its center.

"The colours of our flag have the following meaning: - Green means hope. - Blue represents the waters of the Dique Canal, which waters the municipality of San Estanislao de Kostka. - The dove represents the peace enjoyed by the municipality."
The municipality is named after St. Stanislas Kostka (1550-1568), born in Rostkow (Poland). Invited by the Blessed Virgin to join the Jesuits, Stanislas was rejected by his family in 1567, travelled across Germany and was welcomed in Rome by St. Francis Borgia. Canonized by Pope Benedict XIII in 1726, St. Stanislas Kostka is celebrated on 13 November. See: Catholic Encyclopaedia.
The village was founded by the Jesuits in 1650; the Dique Canal was built the same year. In 1960, the Canal flooded the village, which was rebuilt in a safer, sandy place called Arenal (from "arena", sand).
