Overview

"Riosucio is a municipality in the Chocó Department. It is located in the region of Urabá, on the Atrato River basin. It borders Panama and the municipality of Unguía at its north, Turbo, Mutatá (both in Antioquia), Juradó and Panama at the east, and Carmen del Darien and Solano Bay at its south. The town is inaccessible by roads and there is no airport, the river is the main system of transportation and access.
The name "Riosucio" (in English "Dirty River") is due to the river of that same name that joins the Atrato River. The town was founded by the Spaniard Domingo Bailon."
Riosucio flag is horizontal green-Havana.

Habano (Havana) is a light color of tobacco, according to Spanish-Franch dictionary.
Ivan Sache, 30 July 2008

It appears to be what I'd call "pale cigar brown", which makes perfect sense. It's similar to ochre, but not nearly yellow enough. The nearest "real" colour name I know of to this is fallow, but that's somewhat lighter normally and I doubt most people would recognise it as a colour name anyway.
James Dignan, 1 August 2008

Fallow seems to be "color habano". It is, indeed, a Colombian term.
Nicolás Velásquez, 1 August 2008

Translated from municipal web site:"[The flag] has two equal stripes each covering half of the flag. In the upper part, a green stripe symbolizes the great natural resources represented by the native forests that cover the territory. In the lower part, a habano stripe symbolizes the soil and its resources, especially timber."

Coat of Arms

image from Municipal web site

This coat of arms is different from the one shown on their official website: http://riosucio-choco.gov.co (source: http://www.riosucio-choco.gov.co/informacion_general.shtml). It is also important to notice that the Municipality traces its roots back as far as 1518, and it was established in 1815. In 1821, through Law 8, it was made part of Citarárá (now known as Quindó) and on February 11, 1880 it was founded as a proper township. On 1884 it changed its type to become Villa de Riosucio and is the date commonly accepted as the foundation of the Municipality.
