2016 municipal elections

In September 2016, municipal elections were held in Cabo Verde, with 11 parties disputing the 22 municipal parliaments and governments: The winner overall was M.p.D., who got parliement majorities and siezed the cabinet in 19 municipalities; P.A.I.C.V. got two of those, and the remaining one, Boavista, went for the local party BASTA. Also run, with more modest results, the following parties: UCID, OIAM, GIRB, GPAIS, P.P., P.T.S., P.S.D., and AMI.
António Martins, 21 December 2016

It should be noted that, apart from the results of the two major parties, M.p.D. and P.A.I.C.V., seats in municipal parliaments and/or in municipal cabinets were won mostly by local platforms running only in a single municipality and with no national-wide aspirations (probably not qualified to be termed full fledged political parties).
