The municipality of Geçitkale (Greek, Λευκόνοικο; 2,380 inhabitants in 2011) is located north of Famagusta.
By the 2016-2018 administrative reform, the municipality of Geçitkale should be incorporated in 2018 into the municipality of Kuney Mesarya (Northern Mesaoria).
The municipality of Lefkonikon was established in 1039. Following the proclamation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the exile of the Greek population, the new municipality of Geçitkale was formed in 1975, while the administration of the municipality of Lefkonikon in exile was relocated to Aglantzia.

The flag of Geçitkale (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem in the center. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The airplane represents the Geçitkale airfield, built by the Turkish Air Force after the invasion of Cyprus and completed around 1990. It has the longest runway on the island and served as the main Turkish-Cypriot airport until the completion of Ercan airport. Geçitkale is the main Turkish Air Force airfield on Cyprus, but it has no units assigned to it. The last time Turkish combat aircraft visited the installation was in November 2000. The aircraft landed at the airfield during an exercise held in response to a similar Cypriot-Greek exercise weeks earlier.
