Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a tower Azure masoned Sable, its roof crowned by a cross Azure, the roofs of the two oriels are crowned by a ball Azure.
Meaning:
Hungen gained city rights in 1361 from Emperor Karl IV. The city at the time was ruled by the Counts of Münzenberg-Falkenstein. The oldest seal dates from the same time and already shows a tower with the small shield of the Counts of Münzenberg-Falkenstein. The latter was removed in the 15th century when the city became a possession of the Counts of Solms.
The present arms were granted in 1932 and restored the old inescutcheon of Münzenberg-Falkenberg, but the blue and gold colours of the shield and the tower are the colours of Solms.
Two variants of the arms (shield Or and tower Azure with red roofs Gules / shield Argent and tower Gules with roofs Azure) are displayed by Otto Hupp : "Deutsche Ortswappen" (1925).

Villingen Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a winged lion passant Azure, armed and tongued Gules and nimbed Argent; chief plain Gules.
Meaning:
The lion is an attribute of St.Mark the Evangelist. In the middle ages the St.Marks Day (25 April) was celebrated, probably because St. Mark was local patron saint (is not confirmed). On this day a feast was celebrated, which usually ended in a wassail and as a result often houses were destroyed by fire. Once a young shepherd had been killed by such a fire. And since then the circumstances got better.
