Bischoff Gruppe

White with dark red triangles above and below, relatively narrow, linked by a central disc also dark red. At the hoist and at the fly, the black letters "B" and "C", respectively; on the disc the sign "&" in white.
Jorge Candeias, 7 Feb 1999

Bischoff Gruppe appears to have originated as Bremer Reederei Bruno Bischoff & Co. GmbH with a couple of subsequent variations noted in Lloyds before becoming Bruno Bischoff Reederei Gmbh & Co. K.G in 1981. By the late 1990s it had become a subsidiary of the Icelandic company Samskip H/F and this appears to have coincided with their dropping the naming system of their vessels which previously all had the 1st name of "Bremer".

Lüder Bischoff GmbH & Co

[Luder Bischoff] image by Jarig Bakker, 9 Nov 2005

Lüder Bischoff started an apprenticeship in 1948 in the transport company Carl Prior in Bremen. Between 1953 and 1972 he worked in various shipping companies in Germany and Brazil as person in charge. After the tragic death of his brother Horst Bischoff in 1972 he joined his fathers company Bischoff Gruppe (see above) as individually liable participator. He left the company however in 1975 and established his own shipping agency. In 1989 he established a shipping company, based in Bremen, but when he lost the important agency for DSR (Deutsche Seereederei) in 1991, his company went into bankruptcy.
