Edward and Robert S.Carr were the sons of Edward Carr, a nephew of R.M.Sloman Jr. Edward joined Slomans company as a partner in 1867 but he left the company in 1879. Robert S.Carr established his own company in 1887 but he had to give up in 1892. The company used a blue flag with a white lozenge (see left image above) or diamond (see right image above), both with red serifed capital letters "RC".

The companies were based in Hamburg. Edward Carr had his own company around 1905. His sons founded a small shipping company, which had only one vessel, in 1907. But as they didn't succeed, they closed the company in 1910.
The flags were blue, displaying an anchor in bend sinister, a capital "C" in lower fly and a 5-point star in upper hoist. The charges were white in case of Edward carr and yellow in case of his sons.
