Symbols of Gádor

The flag of Gádor, adopted on 1 October 1996 by the Municipal Council and validated on 5 March 1998 by the Royal Academy of Cordóba, is prescribed by Decree No. 86, adopted on 21 April 1998 by the Government of Andalusia (prescribing the modification of the municipal flag), and published on 16 May 1998 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 55 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag divided into two vertical stripes, the first of sepia orange colour and the second, of double width, of green colour. In the middle of the two sections of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.

The previous flag of Gádor, adopted on 11 September 1992 by the Municipal Council and validated on 16 May 1996 by the Royal Academy of Cordóba, is prescribed by Decree No. 463, adopted on 8 October 1996 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 29 October 1996 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 124, p. 13,880 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Flag twice longer (from hoist to fly) than wide, divided into three parallel stripes of equal width and perpendicular to the hoist, the first celestial blue, the second white, and the third flag green. In the center of the flag, on the white stripe, is placed the crowned municipal coat of arms.

The flag was modified short after its adoption, upon request by villagers, who claimed that the flag did not use the traditional colours of the municipality.

The coat of arms of Gádor is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 26 July 1985 and confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Argent three mounts vert ensigned with a tower azure [or on the flag], a Latin cross sable [azure on the flag] and a bee-hive or fimbriated sable, in base waves azure and argent. A bordure azure charged with the writing "[GÁDOR] VILLA DE POR SÍ Y SOBRE SÍ" in letters or. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The three mounts represent the three hills on which the municipality is built. The tower represents the fortification known as "El Castillejo" [The Small Castle]. The Holy Cross alludes to the first Christian church in Almería, probably erected here. The bee-hive is the symbol of the commitment to work and of the sweetness of the inhabitants. The writing [Gádor Town by Itself and Over Itself] recalls the grant of the status of villa by King Charles III.
