Presentation of Valle de Manzanedo

The municipality of Valle de Manzanedo (137 inhabitants in 2010; 7,044 ha) is located in the north of the Province of Burgos, 80 km of Burgos. The municipality is made of the villages of Manzanedo (39 inh.; capital), Arreba (6 inh.), Población de Arreba (12 inh.), Argés (2 inh.), Cidad de Ebro (4 inh.), Consortes (3 inh.), Crespos (8 inh.), Cueva de Manzanedo (6 inh.), Fuente Humorera (deserted), Manzanedillo (deserted), Mudóval (deserted), Peñalba de Manzanedo (5 inh.), Quintana del Rojo (deserted), Rioseco (11 inh.), San Martín del Rojo (4 inh.), San Miguel de Cornezuelo (9 inh.), Vallejo (6 inh.) and Villasopliz (9 inh.).
Rioseco was resettled in 2010 by seven Colombian families hired by Alfonso Pérez-Andújar, who set up an organic cheese-producing farm with mountain goats imported from France (El Diario Montañés, 9 May 2010).

Symbols of Valle de Manzanedo

The flag and arms of Valle de Manzanedo are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 13 July 1995 by the Burgos Provincial Government, signed on 9 January 1996 by the President of the Government and published on 19 January 1996 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 14 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, with a white cross, the cantons blue and yellow in turn. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Argent an apple tree [manzano] vert terraced and fructed gules, a bordure checky of 15 pieces, seven or and eight vair azure and argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
