The municipality of Torremenga (559 inhabitants in 2019 vs. 1,005 in 1960; 1,200 ha; municipal website) is located 100 km north-east of Cáceres and 30 km east of Plasencia.
Torremenga is named for the Menguada tower ("torre Menguada") still standing in the village, of probable Visigoth origin.

Flag of Torremenga

The flag (photo) and arms of Torremenga, adopted on 29 June and 30 December 1994 by the Municipal Council and validated on 8 November 1994 and 7 March 1995 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 7 April 1995 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 20 April 1995 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 46, pp. 1,456-1,457 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3. Composed of a green panel charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Vert a tower argent masoned sable, 2. Gules two scallops argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The first quarter alludes to the village's name, making the arms canting. The second quarter recalls the village's patron saint, Apostle Saint James.
