Unofficial flag of Córdoba - Image by Santiago Dotor, 18 September 2000

On May 2000 I saw some sort of city flag at a Cordobese hotel. This was a purple or crimson field, with in the middle a large logo-like coat of arms (showing a stylized view of the city, with the river, the Roman bridge and the mosque-cathedral) in blue and white, within a sort of black cogwheel with semicircular cogs.

Santiago Dotor, 15 September 2000

Some time ago, the City Council of Cordoba (which is governed by the Partido Comunista de España) took the decision that its "emblem" was to be that weird landscape, probably because they found the lion and the bordure [of Castile and Leon] far too monarchical. I have no notice of an official adoption, which would have to be approved by a higher instance [the Andalusian autonomous government], but it is actually used by the City Council with no restraint. The flag is the same as before anyway, red or crimson, the only change being in the central emblem.

José Luis Brugués, translated by Santiago Dotor, 15 Sep 2000

I have prepared a GIF of what I actually saw. The field was not red but purple. I am no longer sure about the colours within the cogwheel (this one was certainly black), though I seem to recall it was mostly blue. The logo I found at the Cordoba City Council official website was red however, so maybe what I saw was red on blue.

Submunicipal entity of Encinarejo

Encinarejo (1,755 inhabitants in 2014; municipal website) is located 20 km south-west of Córdoba.
Encinarejo was established in a meander of river Guadalquivir, on the site of a Roman settlement, possibly named Auxininos. A Decree signed on 23 January 1942 by the Spanish Government commissioned the Instituto Nacional de Colonización to purchase the estate known as El Encinarejo de los Frailes Jerónimos (365 ha), which was done in 1949. Some 80 farmers were allocated plot in the new colony, originally called Encinarejo de los Frailes.

The flag (photo, photo, photo) and arms of Encinarejo, adopted on 28 March 2008 by the Village Council and submitted on 10 April 2008 to the Directorate General of the Local Administration, are prescribed by a Resolution adopted on 28 April 2008 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 16 May 2008 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 97, pp. 72-75 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel, in proportions 3 (length) on 2 (width), horizontally divided into two equal stripes, the upper, white, and the lower, green. In the center of the panel, the coat of arms of the submunicipal entity.
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Argent A R-shaped figure gules charged with a plough sable fimbriated argent in base five poplars vert with trunk proper on a terrace vert. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown closed.
The R-shaped

figure recalls the shape of the municipal territory. The plough symbolizes agriculture while poplars are a component of the local natural environment.
The coat of arms featured on the flag in actual use significantly differs for the official, stand-alone version.
