The municipality of Casas de Garcimolina (27 inhabitants in 2018; 3,869 ha) is located on the border with the Valencian Commmunity, 100 km east of Cuenca.

Symbols of Casas de Garcimolina

The flag of Casas de Garcimolina is prescribed by an Order issued on 13 January 2005 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 24 January 2005 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 16, p. 1,119 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, twice longer than wide. Vertically divided, 1. Gules, 2. Or. Charged in the center with the coat of arms.

The coat of arms of Casas de Garcimolina is prescribed by an Order issued on 13 January 2005 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 24 January 2005 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 16, p. 1,119 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Quarterly, 1. Gules a castle or port and windows azure, 2. Argent a pig sable, 3. Or a cross of the Order of Calatrava gules, 4. Azure two crossed doves argent. The shield surrounded by an ornamentation or and supported by a Royal crown.

The Royal Academy of History rejected the proposed symbols.
The arms are taken from a house of the village [photo], with a Spanish Royal crown added. This way of adopting municipal arms, unacceptable, is more than a sufficient reason to reject the proposal. The original shield - no way from the 14th century, as claimed, but from the 17th century -, is composed of four quarters representing the four lineages that built the house. The explanations given in the memoir are flawed, the pig (cerdo) being attributed to Infante Fernando de la Cerda. The Municipal Council should be more careful when appointing someone to redact the memoir.
The proposed flag, which features the rejected coat of arms, cannot therefore be accepted.
