The municipality of Villarta (920 inhabitants in 2014; 2,529 ha) is located 100 km south-east of Cuenca and 70 km north of Albacete.

Symbols of Villarta

The flag of Villarta is prescribed by an Order issued on 25 October 2011 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 18 November 2011 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 226, p. 38,446 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel in proportions 2:3, made of two horizontal equal stripes, the upper white and the lower red, and of a green triangle placed along the hoist and extending on 1/3 of the flag's length.

The coat of arms of Villarta is prescribed by an Order issued on 25 October 2011 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 18 November 2011 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 226, p. 38,445 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Argent a "Peña rodera" gules, 2. Gules a God's lamb argent. Grafted in base vert a bunch of grapes or. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The Royal Academy of History rejected previously proposed arms: "The proposed design is unacceptable, being absolutely non compliant with the proper norms of heraldry. It has to be changed so that it can be understood as a coat of arms belonging to a Castilian and Spanish municipality.
