Symbols of Tejeda

The flag of Tejeda is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 24 July 1991 by the Government of the Canary Islands and published on 12 August 1991 in the official gazette of the Canary Islands, No. 106, p. 4,976 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel, in proportions 2:3 [...]. Colours: blue, green and white. Blue covers the background of the panel, green forms a cross in the middle by the union of horizontal and vertical arms, and white outlines the whole of the cross. Coat of arms: The municipal arms are placed in the middle of the flag.

According to José Manuel Erbez (Banderas y escudos de Canarias, 2007; website), blue comes from the flag of the Canary Islands, green represents agriculture, and white represents the flowering almond trees.

The coat of arms of Tejeda is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 15 May 1991 by the Government of the Canary Islands and published on 5 June 1991 in the official gazette of the Canary Islands, No. 75, p. 3,234 (text). The Muncipal Council accepted all the modifications to its initial proposal suggested by the Royal Academy of History.
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Azure, the mountain range of Gran Canaria or ensigned by a star of the same. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.

The shield shows the ridges in the centre of the island, including the scenic rocks of Roque Nublo, El Fraile and Bentayga. The star symbolizes the central location of the village and St. Mary (here, Virgen del Socorro) as the guardian of the island as well.
On the flag in actual use, the star is represented orange-red with a yellow fimbriation.
