The municipality of Condemios de Arriba (158 inhabitants in 2015; 4,311 ha) is located 100 km north of Guadalajara. The municipality is made of the villages of Condemios de Arriba and Aldeanueva de Atienza (33 inh.; incorporated to Condemios in 1972 and made a submunicipal entity on 15 September 1986).
Condemios de Arriba is the birth place of Ángel Rufino Garrido Herrero (1927-2016; obituary). Ordained priest in 1951, Garrido was asked by the Archbishop of Madrid, Leopoldo Eijo y Garay (1878-1963), to constitute a group of priests specialized in eastern languages. For the next ten years, he studied Hebrew, Syriac, Arab and Amharic under the guidance of Joaquín María Peñuela (1902-1969), as well as classes in Akkadian language and literature and in classical and Arab philology. He subsequently studied additional language, such as Aramaic, Coptic and Sumerian. From 1963 to 1997, Garrido taught Hebrew and classical languages at the Madrid Seminary, subsequently renamed Center of Theological Studies San Dámaso, and, eventually, Faculty of Theology San Dámaso. For en years, he taught Akkadian at the Complutense University of Madrid, initiating classes in estearn languages at the university. From 1989 to his death, he taught Hebrew, akkadian, Coptic and Amharic at the Diocese Institute of Classical and Eastern Philology San Justino. His students followed his path in several Spanish and foreign institutes.

The flag of Condemios de Arriba is prescribed by an Order issued on 11
January 2007 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 23
January 2007 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 17, p.
1,533 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular in proportions 2:3, divided in two vertical stripes in proportions 1:2. The stripe at hoist red. The stripe at fly divided into three horizontal stripes in proportions 1:2, the upper and the lower stripes, red, the central stripe, white with the the coat of arms of the place, centered.
The coat of arms of Condemios de Arriba is prescribed by an Order issued
on 11 January 2007 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published
on 23 January 2007 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No.
17, pp. 1,533 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Azure a tower or masoned sable flanked sinister by a pine proper all on a base. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed, according to the constituionally established, monarchic regime.
The Royal Academy of History validated the proposed coat of arms, of
unknown origin, assigned to the place in a black and white drawing
published in the early 20th century (image). Some whimsical details of the original, lacking any significance, or absurd, like the substitution of
the crenels by acorns, should be corrected. Moreover, the pine vert
shall be placed on a contrasted background, which is not the case with
gules as proposed. The tower and the pine should be represented as
usual, that is, generic charges without specific element, and in colors
assigned according to the traditional norm of chromatic contrast.
