Symbols of Matarrubia

The flag of Matarrubia is prescribed by a Decree issued on 8 November 2011 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 2 December 2011 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 236, p. 40,026 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel, vertically divided in the middle. Green at hoist with a yellow branch of kermes oak, blue at hoist with a white baptismal font and dog's head.

The coat of arms of Matarrubia is prescribed by a Decree issued on 8 November 2011 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 2 December 2011 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 236, p. 40,025 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Vert a branch of kermes oak or, 2. Azure a baptismal font argent in chief a dog's head of the same. The shield surmounted by the Royal Spanish crown.

The memoir supporting the proposed symbols was redacted by José Manuel Sanz García, with the help of Antonio Herrera Casado, Chronicler of the Province of Guadalajara.
The first field of the shield represents the village of Matarrubia. Green represents agriculture and the natural environment, recalling that the villagers were once farmers and shepherds, and the Campiña district. The branch of kermes alludes to the traditional etymology of the name of the village, "mata rubias" (yellow plants), for the oaks that grew commonly in the neighborhood.
The second field of the shield represents the deserted village of Canrayado (lit. "striped dog"). Blue, representing the mountains' cold and harshness, is the color of the seal of the Council of Uceda, recalling that Matarrubia once belonged to the Community of the Town and Land of Uceda. Blue also represents the Serranía district. The tradition says that the baptismal font of Canrayado was transferred to the parish church of Matarrubia when the village was deserted.
Accordingly, green and blue represents the geographical location of Matarrubio, the last village in Campiña, and the gate to Serranía.
