Symbols of Onzonilla

The flag of Onzonilla (municipal website), designed by the Instituto Borbone de Heráldica Municipal, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 21 June 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on 26 July 2001 by the Mayor, and published on 29 April 2002 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 80, p. 5,612 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular flag, with proportions 1:1, vertically divided into two equal parts, at hoist red, at fly, yellow. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms, as shown on appended Figure 1. [not available in the electronic version of the source]

The coat of arms of Onzonilla is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 25 April 1990 by the Municipal Council, signed on 9 August 1991 by the Director General of the Territorial Administration and published on 24 September 1991 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 183, p. 3,185 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per fess, 1a. Argent a lion purpure crowned or, 1b. Gules six bezants or in two pales, 2. Or an oak proper fructed or over waves azure and argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown.

The first quarter sof the coat of arms shows the arms of León, to which Onzonilla always belonged; the six bezants in the second quarter represent the six villages merged with Onzonilla; the lower field recalls the etymology of the name of Onzonilla - a fountain and a small oak.
