The municipality of Aldeacipreste (135 inhabitants in 2012; 3,717 ha) is located in the southeast of Salamanca Province, 90 km from Salamanca. The municipality is made of the villages of Aldeacipreste and Valbuena (26 inh.).
The flag and arms of Aldeacipreste are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 25 February 1998 by the Municipal Council, signed on 15 February 2001 by the Mayor, and published on 9 March 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 49, pp. 4,008-4,009 (text).
The Decree does not describe the symbols but lists the changes made to the original, not described proposed symbols, as recommended by the Chronicler of Arms of Castilla y León.
The chromatic disposition was modified: black cows on a golden field or golden cows on a red field, a bordure azure with acorns or and argent. As far as the flag is concerned, it shall be quadrangular instead of rectangular [therefore, square], accordingly the dimensions of the flag were modified. The symbols were originally designed by the heraldist José Luis Martos Gó,mez.
The unofficial village's website shows the arms as originally
proposed, as "Quarterly, 1. and 4. Gules a cow or, 2. and 3. Argent a
dog's head gules, a bordure azure eight acorns or and argent. The
shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed".
The same source shows the flag as rectangular - while it is prescribed
as square -, horizontally divided blue-white-red with the modified
coat of arms in the middle.
The arms in use are shown on a flyer announcing the 2013 village's
festival, as "Quarterly, 1. and 4. Azure a cow argent, 2. and 3. Or a
dog's head gules, a bordure argent eight acorns proper. The shield
surmounted with a Royal crown closed".
