Symbols of Tegueste

The flag of Tegueste is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 6 March 1995 by the Government of the Canary Islands and published on 5 April 1995 in the official gazette of the Canary Islands, No. 42, pp. 2,360-2,361 (text). The flag was validated by the Heraldry Commission of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Panel in proportions 2:3 (one and a half longer than wide), divided in two horizontal equal stripes, the upper white and the lower emerald green.
When the flag is charged with the municipal coat of arms, this should be placed in the middle of the flag.

The coat of arms of Tegueste is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 10 February 1993 by the Government of the Canary Islands and published on 19 March 1996 in the official gazette of the Canary Islands, No. 34, p. 1,459 (text). The coat of arms was validated by the Heraldry Commission of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Gules four walls argent masoned sable per fess, 2. Argent a laurel proper a stream argent issuant from a rock to the base. A bordure compony of eight pieces four in cantons vert a wheat spike or four in chief, flanks and base or a bunch of grapes proper. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

According to José Manuel Erbez (Banderas y escudos de Canarias, 2007; website), the 1st quarter features the arms historically used by the municipality. The 2nd quarter represents the laurel forests that grow on the mountains and the fertile fields watered by the Mocán source for ages. Wheat and grapevine are traditional crops in the municipality.
