The municipality of Luelmo (220 inhabitants in 2009; 3,634 ha) is located in the west of Zamora Province, 45 km from Zamora.

Symbols of Luelmo

The flag (photo) and arms of Luelmo are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 25 March 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed on 27 May 2002 by the Mayor, and published on 6 June 2002 in the official gazette of Castile and León, No. 108, p. 7,552 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, diagonally divided by four stripes with proportions 1:4, from fly to hoist, green, gold, red and blue, in the center of the flag the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1a. Azure on a mound proper a chapel argent port and windows gules in chief two stars or, 1b. Gules a stone azure with five lines of an old writing, 2. Or two stone sculptures vert. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The symbols (unofficial website), designed by Sergio Jesús de San Marcelo Vassallo-Paleólogo, Baron of Piana, Member of Honor of the Academy of History and Heraldry of the Republic of Colombia, were officially unveiled on 18 August 2002 during the village's festival.
The chapel represents the disappeared St. Gregory chapel, built on the Cerro Santo (Holy Mount); the stars represent the two other chapels of the village, the disappeared St. Christ of the Calvary chapel and the St. Catherine chapel, located near the cemetery.
The stone, once part of the St. Gregory chapel, was reused to build the gate of the St. Catherine chapel; the writing is of partial Greek origin.
The mourner's statues are located in the corners of the cemetery.
