Presentation of Robleda-Cervantes

The municipality of Robleda-Cervantes (482 inhabitants in 2010; 1,484 ha) is located 110 km from Zamora. The municipality is made of the villages of Robleda (capital), Cervantes, Ferreros, Paramio, Sampil, San Juan de la Cuesta, Triufé and Valdespino. The village of Castellanos was transferred in 1978 from the municipality of Robleda- Cervantes to the municipality of Puebla de Sanabria.

Leandro Rodríguez (text) claims that the author of Don Quijote de la Mancha is not Miguel de Cervantes, born either in 1547 in Alcalá de Henares or in 1558 in Alcázar de San Juan, but Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, born in 1549 in Cervantes de Sanabria. The claim is based on a detailed analysis of the text of the novel, in which Rodríguez points out "concordances" between descriptions of places, landscapes... and real places, landscapes... in Sanabria.

The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, made of two triangles formed by a diagonal running from the lower hoist to the upper fly, the triangle at hoist white with two green oaks, the triangle at fly red with a white stag.
Coat of arms: Per bend, 1. Argent two oaks eradicated vert per fess, 2. Gules a stag passant argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The flag must be a banner of the canting municipal arms, for the two villages of Robleda (roble, "an oak") and Cervantes (ciervo, "a stag").
