Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole (450,051 inhabitants in 2014; 43,421 ha) is composed of 31 municipalities surrounding Montpellier. It succeeded Montpellier Agglomération on 1 January 2015.
The flag of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole (photo) features the authority's logo on a turned square with rounded corners in the lower fly, while the other parts of the flag are purple with orange shapes taken from the logo.

The Communauté d'agglomération Montpellier Agglomération succeeded Montpellier District on 1 August 2011. It included 38 muncipalities, a number reduced to 32 in 2004 and 31 in 2005.

Béziers Méditerranée (125,640 inhabitants in 2016; 30,300 ha), established in January 2002 by 13 municipalities and joined by another four municipalities in January 2017, is composed of the municiopalities of Alignan-du-Vent, Bassan, Béziers, Boujan-sur-Libron, Cers, Corneilhan, Coulobres, Espondeilhan, Lieuran-lès-Béziers, Lignan-sur-Orb, Montblanc, Sauvian, Sérignan, Servian, Valras-Plage, Valros, and Villeneuve-lès-Béziers.
The flag of Béziers Méditerranée (photo, photo) is white with the authority's logo, which was adopted in 2015. The former flag of Béziers Méditerranée (photo) was white with the authority's former logo.

Hérault Méditerranée

The Communauté d'agglomération Hérault Méditerranée (CAHM; 77,450 inhabitants in 2018; 38,940 ha; website), established in 2003, groups 20 municipalities. The CAHM is seated in Saint-Thibé:ry (2,885 inh.) but its main two components are Agde (28,609 inh.) and Pézenas (8,280 inh.).

The Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de l'Or (43,985 inhabitants in 2014; 14,193 ha) is named for lake Étang de l'Or.

The intermunicipal structure (SIVU) created in 1947 became a SIVOM (intermunicipal structure with several services) in 1971. In 1993, the Communauté de communes of Pays de l'Or was created by the municipalities of Mauguio, Lansargues, Mudaison, Candillargues, Saint-Aunès and La Grande Motte. Between 2002 and 1 January 2004, the municipalities of La Grande-Motte, Mauguio and Saint-Aunès left the Pays de l'Or to be integrated against the wish of their Municipal Council into the Urban Community of Montpellier. Palavas-les-Flots joined Pays de l'Or in January 2005.
On 1 January 1, 2011, the SIVOM disappeared and the community of communes of Pays de l'Or was created. On January 2012, the Communauté de communes was transformed into a Communauté d'agglomération, joined by the municipality of Valergues.

The Communauté de communes La Domitienne (26,981 inhabitants in 2013, 17,193 ha) was established in 1993 by the municipalities of Cazouls-lès-Béziers (4,8746 inh.), Colombiers (2,345 inh.), Maureilhan (seat; 2,020 inh.), Montady (3,988 inh.), and Nissan-lez-Ensérune (3,926 inh.). The authority was joined in 1996 by Lespignan (3,157 inh.) and Vendres (2,682 inh.) and in 1997 by Maraussan (4,122 inh.).

The Communauté de communes du Grand Pic Saint-Loup (47,608 inhabitants in 2016; 56,280 ha) was established on 1 January 2010 as the merger of the former Communautés de communes of Orthus (Claret, Ferrières-les-Verreries, Lauret, Sauteyrargues, Vacquières, and Valflaunès; 2,801 inh., 10,090 ha), Pic Saint-Loup (Assas, Cazevieille, Combaillaux, Fontanès, Guzargues, Les Matelles, Le Triadou, Murles, Saint-Bauzille-de-Montmel, Saint-Clément-de-Rivière, Sainte-Croix-de-Quintillargues, Saint-Gély-du-Fesc, Saint-Jean-de-Cuculles, Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers, Saint-Vincent-de-Barbeyrargues, Teyran, and Vailhauquès; 29,485 inh., 22,700 ha) and Séranne Pic Saint-Loup (Causse-de-la-Selle, Mas-de-Londres, Notre-Dame-de-Londres, Pégairolles-de-Buèges, Rouet, Saint-André-de-Buèges, Saint-Jean-de-Buèges, Saint-Martin-de-Londres, Viols-en-Laval, and Viols-le-Fort; 4,229 inh., 23,227 ha). They were joined in 2013 by another three municipalities: Buzignargues, Saint-Hilaire-de-Beauvoir, and Saint-Jean-de-Cornies, following the suppression of the Communauté de communes of Ceps et Sylves.
The flag of the Communauté de communes du Grand Pic Saint-Loup (photo) is red with the authority's logo in the middle. The logo features the silhouette of the emblematic Pic Saint-Loup (658 m).
