The departmental council displays in front of its seat the flag of Occitania together with the French and European flags (photo, 2015; photo, 2018).

The departmental council has adopted in october 2003 an official coat of arms, quarterly divided:
1. Agen 2. Marmande 3. Nérac 4. Villeneuve-sur-Lot

Another coat of arms had been created and proposed by Robert Louis in 1950. It is blazoned: Gules a lion passant gardant Or, armed and langued Azure, accompanied by two wavy barrulets Argent, one in chief, the other in point. The two wavy barrulets stand for the two rivers Lot and Garonne, added on the arms of the province of Guyenne. [source: Armorial de France]

Banners of these arms are sometimes sold by flagmakers. In Barbaste, a commune of 1,500 inhabitants, a banner of these unofficial arms of Lot-et-Garonne could be observed officially hoited in front of the city hall:

In march 2021, the flag of Guyenne was hoisted instead: photo (march 2021).
