Association des Plaisanciers de Port-Bail

Association des Plaisanciers de Port-Bail groups the non-professional users (yachtsmen and fishers) of the port of Port-Bail, a municipality located on the western coast of Cotentin, Normandy.
The association organizes every year a yachting race called Challenge des Écréhous (website). The race is named for an uninhabited archipelago part of the Bailiwick of Jersey, located half distance between Port-Bail and Jersey. The British sovereignty over the islets (and the neighboring sea rich in fish and seafood) is challenged from time to time, more or less seriously, by French fishers.

The poster of Challenge des Écréhous 2011 shows the burgee of the association as blue with a red chevron surrounded at top by three white stars and at bottom by a white diamond.
The burgee is, undoubtedly, derived from the municipal arms of Port- Bail, "Azure a chevron or in chief three stars or in base a spearhead argent", which are the arms of the old Hellouin family, lords of Port- Bail in 1734.

The municipality of Barneville-Carteret (2,299 inhabitants in 2008; 1,029 ha), formed in 1965 by the merging of the two former municipalities of Barneville-su-Mer and Carteret, is located on the western coast of Cotentin, facing the Channel Islands.

The Yacht Club de Barneville-Carteret (YCBC, website) was founded in 1997 by Sandro and Evelyn Stipanovich in the "Port des Isles" new marina, built in July 1995.
The burgee of the YCBC is quartered red-blue-red-blue by a yellow cross filled in red throughout. The first quarter is charged with two yellow leopards, while the third quarter is charged with a row of four adjacent lozenges placed over a tower, all yellow.
The burgee was designed by Claude Agnelli, who submitted different proposals. The cross and the leopards represent Normandy, while the lozenges and the tower are taken from the arms of Barneville-Carteret.

The arms of Barneville-Carteret, adopted in 1985, are "Gules a tower argent masoned sable in chief four lozenges of the second per fess". "Gules four lozenges per fess argent" are the old arms of the Carteret family, while Barneville once used "Gules a tower argent masoned sable".

Yacht Club de Carolles

The municipality of Carolles (765 inhabitants in 2009; 385 ha) (Carolles municipal website) is located on the north-eastern end of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, 10 km south of Granville and 20 km north-west of Avranches. The sea resort of Carolles, later known as Carolles-Plage, was founded in 1860 by people from Avranches and developed mostly after 1870, due to the building of the Paris-Avranches railway and the exile of people from Paris because of the Prussian invasion. From 1908 to 1935, Carolles-Plage was served by the Granville-Sourdeval tramway, which increased the popularity of the resort.

Yacht Club de Carolles (YCC, website), one of the oldest yacht clubs in Normandy, was founded in 1931 by the friends of the painter Simon (who built a house on the cliffs of Carolles in 1882) oversummering in Carolles. The group of painters who enjoyed the picturesque landscape of Carolles is recalled by the Painters' Valley (Vallée des Peintres), surmounted by the tramway viaduct often portrayed by the painters.
The flag of YCC is blue with the emblem of the club, which is a nice composition of the letters YCC forming a sailboat.
