Larmor-Plage (8,277 inhabitants in 2020; 727 ha) is a commune in the Morbihan department.

The region has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the megalithic monuments in the area.
According to the tradition, the construction of a chapel by Gildas the Wise, on the site of the current Notre-Dame church, dates back to the 6th century. In the 9th century it was destroyed by Vikings who settled, probably between 820 and 940, in a fortified camp at Locqueltas. Its reconstruction may have taken place during the restorative reign of Duke Geoffrey I (992-1008). Storms and a fire in 1502 caused the destruction of the chapel. The current church bears an inscription locating the start of its construction in 1506, and it was in 1615 that the Bell Tower was built: the custom wanted the bells to respond to the three cannon shots emitted by the warships on the departure. The national colors were then hoisted, hence the motto inscribed on the coat of arms of the town: "Fair winds to those who salute me" (Bon vent à qui me salue).

Larmor-Plage was created as a new commune in 1925. Before that, it came within the administrative area of the town of Ploemeur. It was almost completely destroyed in World War II.
