Pays de Valois

Flag of the CCPV, current and former versions - Images by Olivier Touzeau, 26 June 2020

The Communauté de communes du Pays de Valois (55,570 inhabitants in 2016; 61,440 ha), created in 1997, gathers 62 municipalities.
The flag of the CCPV (photo) is white with the authority's logo adopted in 2019 (graphic charter). The former flag of CCPV (photo) was white with the authority's former logo.

The new logo, presented on 16 January 2019, was elaborated as a link betwen tradition and modernity. The color shades, with blue and green dominating, reflect the territory. Blue brings some kind of continuity with the former logo and is a straightforward reference to the Valois dynasty. Green associated to blue highlights the territory as both rural and urban. The fleur-de-lys is a strong symbol of Valois, emphasizing the territory's history but also its values. The fleur-de-lis is represented in a stylized way. The thread-like shapes of the circles bring lightness and mostly emphasize the territory's dynamism. The smooth font brings a real contrast with the rounded shapes of the fleur-de-lis and emphasized modesty.

The Communauté de communes du Pays de Bray (18,487 inhabitants in 2014; 22,400 ha; CCPB), created in 1997, groups 23 municipalities.
The flag of the CCPB (photo) is white with the authority's logo.

The logo appears to feature, in red, the Pays de Bray buttonhole (boutonniére).
Pays de Bray (about 750 km2) is situated to the north-east of Rouen, in the departments of Seine-Maritime and Oise. The main land use is bocage, permitted by clay soil suitable to the development of pastures for the raising of dairy cattle. Geologically, the Pays de Bray is a small eroded anticline along the Bray fault, breaking through rocks on the edge of the Paris Basin, which forms chalki plateaus around it. Erosion has exposed clay beds in an elliptically-shaped region called the Pays de Bray buttonhole, limited by escarpments of 60 to 100 metres in height.
