Presentation of Lobor

The municipality of Lobor is situated some 20 km east of Krapina. It has about 4,000 inhabitants, only some under 600 living in the village of the same name.
Nearby are the ruins of medieval fort Lobor Grad and the palace of the Keglević family, serving since after the First World War as an hospital. At the beginning of the Second World War, the palace was turned into a concentration camp for Jews, and after the War it became a psychiatric hospital, still serving the purpose.

Flag of Lobor

The symbols of Lobor are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Lobor, adopted on 15 September 2006 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 22 September 2006 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 15. The symbols were approved by the central authorities on 3 May 2006.
The current Municipality Status Status Općine Lobor, adopted on 17 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 22 July 2009 in Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 16 (text), introduce the description of the symbols.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.
The symbols were presented to the public on 26 July 2006.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

Coat of arms of Lobor

The coat of arms of Lobor is "Per chevron reaching the chief gules and argent and in the last a cross crosslet of the first". The aforementioned Decision names the cross "repeated (Jerusalem) cross". "Repeated cross" is the standard heraldic name for this type of cross in Croatian and in some other languages. However, the term "Jerusalem cross" would imply something else, notably with smaller crosses around the main one.
Lobor and its vicinity have several important churches and places of pilgrimage, which may explain the symbols chosen for the coat of arms.

Ceremonial flag of Lobor

The ceremonial flag is a dark blue gonfalon bordered yellow and ending with three triangularly finished tails and edged with a golden fringe along the bottom containing the golden bordered coat of arms in the middle, above it the name of the municipality, "OPĆINA" arched and "LOBOR" on a straight line and in the tails ornaments of vine branches, a triple wattle and oak branches.
The aforementioned Decision does not mention the gonfalon, which is not at all unusual.
