Flag of Svetvinčenat

The symbols of Svetvinčenat are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Svetvinčenat, adopted by the Municipality Assembly on 28 September 2001 and published in the Municipality official gazette Službene novine Općine Svetvinčenat.
This was repeated in the next Statutes Statut Općine Svetvinčenat - pročišćeni tekst, adopted on 28 September 2007 by the Municipality Assembly and published in Službene novine Općine Svetvinčenat, and in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Svetvinčenat (text), adopted on 28 August 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published in Službene novine Općine Svetvinčenat.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, light blue with the coat of arms, bordered white, offset towards the canton. The coat of arms is placed one unit from the flag's top and two units from the flag's bottom and hoist.
This is a modification of the flag originally adopted in 1994.

In spite of a prescribed light blue colour, the flag in actual use (photo) is standard, medium blue (as in the national flag), with the field of the coat of arms somewhat darker, and no white outline around the coat of arms.

The coat of arms is "Azure a tower with slanted base and embattlements argent".
This is a modification of the coat of arms originally adopted in 1994.

The arms represent the Grimani casle that is the base of the town, built in the 13th century and rebuilt to its present shape in 1589, when the same coat of arms carved above the fort entrance may have already existed.

The table flag (photo) features a light blue coat of arms, set in the centre of a vertical white flag with the municipality's name, in black on two lines, above it. The coat of arms seems to be somewhat vertically streched.

The symbols of Svetvinčena were first prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Svetvinčenat, adopted on 13 April 1994 by the Municipality Assembly and published the next day in the official gazette of the Town of Pula Službene novine Grada Pule, No. 2A. The correction Ispravak - Dodatak Odluke o grbu i zastavi Općine Svetvinčenat, published on 18 April 1994 in Službene novine Grada Pule, No. 2A (Correction) adds drawings to the text of the original Decision.

The symbols are credited to Attilio Krizmanić, an architect from Pula.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, made of 5 x 10 (virtual) squares. The tower from the coat of arms, without the encircling shield, is set in area of 2 x 2 units in size, one unit away from the hoist and from the top.
The coloursare specified as follows:
- Blue : HKS 48 K (light blue)
- White
- Black
- Red: HKS 13 K.

The Decision was sent to the Ministry for approval, together with the document released by the History Museum of Istria in Pula, stating that this coat of arms matches the historical coat of arms used by Svetvinčenat from the 19th century to 1945 and that examples of it are located in the castle and the parish church of the town.
There is no record of approval of the symbols by the Ministry; the symbols were slightly modified at some point, possibly around 1998, possibly after the Ministry's guidelines: the red outlines around the castle's bricks were changed to blacjk and the complete coat of arms was used on the flag.
