Overview

Gádoros, known until 1901 as Bánfalva, is a large village in Orosháza district of Békés County, in the Southern Great Plain region of south-east Hungary.
Gádoros was the name of one of the two árpád-era villages near the present-day settlement. Neither of them was repopulated in the late Middle Ages, but the árpád-era name has been preserved to this day. The Tatars burned it down in 1241.
A royal deed of donation from 1436 already mentions it as Gadoros-puszta, the name referring to the vestibule of the ancient church of the settlement.
In 1512 it was a puszta belonging to Szentetornya. The year of repopulation was 1826.

The Flag

The flag of the settlement consists of two horizontal stripes, blue over white, and the coat of arms is placed in the center of the fag. The flag ratio is 1:2.
The flag was adopted by Local Government Decree 9/1994 (III.25.) issued on 25 March 1994.

The coat of arms is divided into four parts. The first quarter shows a stylized vestibule (church entrance) in white in the blue field, the second quarter depicts a yellow ear of wheat in the white field. The third quarter shows a hand holding a bunch of grapes in gray in the white field. The fourth quarter is divided horizontally seven times in blue and white.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Local Government Decree.
