Overview

Sóskút - (in Slovakian Šóškút) is a Hungarian-Slovakian village in Pest county near to Budapest closed to Érd town. This image based on the pictures (of the coat of arms) sent by the Mayor of the settlement and Ralf Hartemink's Site. Sóskút (in Slovakian Šoškut) is a village in Pest County in Hungary near to Town of Érd (6 km west). The settlement has got 2.573 inhabitants (1990 census). Neighbouring settlements are: Törökbálint, Biatorbágy, Etyek, Pusztazámor, Tárnok villages and Érd town.
The territory of the settlement is inhabited from the Stone Age. The first mention of the settlement is from 1231. It was devastated at the end of the 17th century. In 1747 the settlement was resettled with Slovakians and Germans.
In 1910 Sóskút was a village in the Vál district of Fejér County of the Kingdom of Hungary. Number of its inhabitants in 1910: 2.651; 2.055 (77,5%) Slovakian, 520 (19,6%) Hungarian, 55 (2,1%) German and 21 (0,8%) other by mother tongue, 2.585 (97,5%) Roman Catholic, 39 (1,5%) Jew, 16 (0,6%) Calvinist and 11 (0,4%) other by religion. After the WWII some Slovakian families moved out to Czechoslovakia and Hungarians settled to the village from Czechoslovakia.
I think the black cross in the gold field relates to the Roman Catholic religion, the four lilies in the blue field relates to the Anjou kings.
