Abu-Basmah (in Arabic - Father of the smile) is a new regional
council in the South District, Be'er Sheva Subdistrict, which
govern Bedouin settlements. The regional council was established
by a decree of the Minister of the Interior of 9 December 2003
(Published in the Rashumot [Official Gazette], Kovetz
HaTakanot [Regulations Collection] 6280 of 7 January 2004.
The regional council jurisdiction include the settlements of
Abu-Kurinath, Bir-Hadaj, Mikhol, Kasra-Sar and Tarabin-a-Sana. In
the future it will include the planned settlements of Umm-Batin
and Molada.
Currently, the regional council is managed by Ministry of the
Interior's officials and the "city hall" situated in
Ministry of the Interior offices at Be'er Sheva.
I expect that, as done before, this regional council will be an
intermediate stage until the settlements (or part of them) will
become independent local councils, so I don't expect it to have
any symbols.
