The Ministry of Defense's Research and Development Unit was established in July 1972 as a merger between the IDF Department of Weapons and Powers from the Chief Scientist in the Ministry of Defense. In November 1982, the unit was
reorganized and renamed Director of Research and Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure, colloquially known as מפא"ת (English: Mafaat or Maf'at).

Within Mafaat, there are five Units:
1) Unit for research and technological infrastructure, known as MTT (official website: http://www.mod.gov.il/Defence-and-Security/Pages/science_research.aspx)
2) Research and Development Unit
3) "Challenge" Space Administration, established in 1981.
4) Missile and Rocket Defense Administration, better known as Missile Defense Agency, or MDA, or Missile Defense Organization, colloquially known as "Wall administration", "Wall manager"), established in 1991.
5) UAV Administration

Its logo is very similar to the Missile Defense Agency (U.S.) (and one might conclude that it is even based on it):
