Description of the flag

Bodoland People's Front is a political state in the state of Assam, which represents Bodo people. Its flag is defined in the Article 6 of the party Constitution[1] as follows:

Tri-colour with 3:2 size and having same significance as follows and Nangal in the middle of white colour:
- Saffron colour at the top signifies courage and sacrifice for the cause of motherland (India) and for Bodoland as well as Assam.
- White colour at the middle of the flag signifies truth, purity and peace.
- Green colour at the bottom of the flag signifies the faith and strength. Nangal in black colour in the middle of white colour signifies agricultural growth, the strength of economy and all round development of the society.

As can be seen at the party website[2], shades of saffron (orange) and green are O and V++, respectively. Nangal (sometimes spelled as nangol), whose stand-alone depiction is used as the party symbol[2], is a type of plough-like tool. It was assigned to the party by the Election Commission of India on 2009-09-14 as its election symbol[3], but the party had used it prior to that, at least since the current text of Constitution was adopted on 2007-08-29[1].
