The Flag

Motomiya Town on Jan 1st 2007 Motomita town merged with Shirasawa Village to become Motomiya City. They abolished their purplish red flag adopted in 1971.
Motomiya City adopted the new city emblem.

The city emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 2007 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a green and a blue two color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana も Mo of Motomiya. It represents an abundant nature such as water, green trees and rivers and a flying bird and merged two town and village and an image of the new city which makes a leap forward into the future.

The emblem is a stylised hiragana mo , in the shape of the ribbons that are worn/sold for various causes. The notice says something along the lines of: The emblem symbolises the energy of the leaping people and the impetus of the town, spreading in all directions.
